Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, November 2025 — Julia Thompson-Calio has begun a new role as Director, People Solutions at Baker Tilly US, marking a significant milestone in her eleven-year journey with the firm. In this role, she will continue advancing people experience, organisational effectiveness, and culture-driven initiatives, building on her longstanding contributions to the firm’s national HR strategy through impactful programs, data-driven insights, and large-scale people operations excellence.
Moving into this new leadership role follows her successful tenure as Senior Human Resources Manager at Baker Tilly US, where she led the Culture & Experience team supporting thousands of employees across the firm. Her work involved strengthening onboarding, enhancing employee engagement, optimising offboarding, designing data-led experience insights, and enabling HR business partners with essential culture-building tools. Her leadership was instrumental in designing scalable processes that supported thousands of campus hires, experienced recruits, and temporary workforce integrations every year.
Before stepping into senior HR management, Julia served as Human Resources Manager, partnering with business leaders, managing performance processes, driving talent management initiatives, and strengthening organisational capability. In earlier years at the firm, she excelled as Senior HR Generalist and Learning and Development Specialist, leading training programs, performance development initiatives, major onboarding events, diversity training evaluations, and learning curriculum design across multiple business units.
Prior to joining Baker Tilly US, Julia built a strong foundation in education, coaching, curriculum design, and training during her years as an English Teacher, Curriculum Developer, and Tutor, gaining deep experience in development methodologies, instructional design, and mentoring. Earlier roles across coaching, instructional programs, and student development added breadth to her expertise in people development and organisational learning.
Her earlier professional experiences also include work as an Editor (fiction), Banquet Server, Camp Counselor, Cheerleading Head Coach, and Peer Mentor & Office Assistant at the University of Delaware—roles that strengthened her communication skills, empathy, leadership, and training ability, all of which now enrich her HR leadership journey.
