Delhi, India, December 2025 – Purnima Kumar has started a new role as Executive Vice President, Human Resources (Digital, Sports) and Total Rewards at JioStar. In this expanded mandate, she leads the people strategy and transformation charter for JioStar’s digital platforms and sports ecosystem, while continuing to steer Compensation & Benefits and Total Rewards for the organization. Her focus includes building future-ready capabilities, scaling business growth, strengthening the talent narrative across India’s largest streaming and sports portfolio, and driving progressive rewards practices to attract, retain, and inspire exceptional talent.
In her current role at JioStar, Purnima Kumar serves as the HR leader for the company’s digital and sports businesses, integrating people strategy with business transformation and growth. Her elevation reflects confidence in her ability to scale talent, capability, and rewards frameworks across high-growth media and sports platforms.
Immediately prior, she held the position of Head – Total Rewards, People Programs, Talent Acquisition, and Co-Lead JV Integration at JioStar, where she led enterprise-wide rewards strategy, people programs, and talent acquisition, and played a key role in joint venture integration efforts—building strong foundations for the company’s next phase of growth.
Before joining JioStar, Purnima Kumar spent over four years at The Walt Disney Company, serving as Executive Director, Talent Acquisition and People Strategy and Programs for the India network, including Star, Disney+ Hotstar, and Disney. In this role, she led people strategy, talent acquisition, and workforce programs across a complex, content-driven media ecosystem.
Earlier in her career, she spent more than sixteen years with Accenture, progressing through a series of senior global and regional leadership roles. Her experience includes serving as Global Recruiting Operations Director, Global HR Transformation – Recruiting Delivery Director, Global Head of Strategic Sourcing and Candidate Experience, and Head of Human Resources for multiple geographies and enabling functions. This tenure gave her deep expertise in large-scale talent strategy, HR transformation, diversity programs, and global people operations.
Purnima Kumar holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources Management from XLRI Jamshedpur, combining strong analytical foundations with advanced HR leadership credentials.
