Cairo, Egypt, January 2026 – AlBaraka Capital, Egypt’s leading Islamic non-bank financial institution and a member of the AlBaraka Group, has announced the appointment of Amir Sherif as Chief Executive Officer, entrusting him with a mandate focused on long-term value creation, disciplined execution, and responsible innovation.
In his new role, Amir Sherif will lead AlBaraka Capital’s strategic growth agenda, deepen its Shariah-compliant financing and investment platforms, and strengthen its position as a benchmark institution in Egypt’s rapidly expanding Islamic finance ecosystem.
Prior to joining AlBaraka Capital, Amir Sherif served as Managing Director at Al Ahly Pharos, where he led investment banking operations and debt capital markets activities, playing a pivotal role in structuring major financing transactions and strengthening the firm’s capital markets footprint.
He also served as Vice Chairman of Al Ahly Sukuk Company and as a Non-Executive Board Member at Al Ahly Securitization Company, contributing to governance, Islamic finance structuring and board-level strategy across key capital market institutions.
Earlier in his career, Amir Sherif spent over a decade with Banque Misr, where he rose to become Deputy Head of Investment Banking, leading securitization programs, major M&A transactions, multinational advisory mandates and corporate bond issuances that consistently ranked among Egypt’s largest market deals. His early career also includes roles with Misr Capital S.A.E, F.A.C Filter (Afifi Group) and Nafay, where he built deep expertise in private equity, export markets, project finance and corporate credit.
He holds an MBA in Finance & Investment from The Arab Academy for Management, Banking and Financial Sciences.
