Nairobi, Kenya, January 2026 — Absa Bank Kenya has announced the appointment of Renato D’souza as Director – Business Banking, strengthening its leadership team as it continues to deepen support for business and commercial clients across the country.
In his new role, Renato D’souza is responsible for driving the business banking strategy at Absa Bank Kenya, with a focus on sustainable growth, client-centric solutions, and strengthening the bank’s position across the small, medium, and commercial enterprise segments.
Prior to joining Absa Bank Kenya, Renato spent close to a decade with Stanbic Bank Kenya, where he most recently served as Head of Commercial Banking – Business and Commercial Banking. During this period, he led client coverage and portfolio growth across diverse sectors, including public sector, oil & gas, mining, and metals.
Earlier at Stanbic, he held progressively senior leadership roles across client coverage, sector banking, and corporate relationship management, building deep expertise in commercial banking strategy, sector-focused lending, and relationship-led growth within Kenya’s evolving financial ecosystem.
Renato began his banking career with CfC Stanbic Bank, where he worked across relationship management and asset finance, before moving to Barclays Bank of Kenya (now Absa), gaining early exposure to corporate and business banking operations. He brings over 15 years of experience spanning corporate & investment banking as well as business and commercial banking.
