New York, United States, January 2026 — Knack RCM has announced the appointment of Gautam Barai as its new Chief Executive Officer and Board Member. In this leadership role, Gautam will guide Knack’s next phase of growth as a tech-enabled, verticalized revenue cycle management company, combining AI-driven automation with a global bench of expert talent to improve performance, profitability, and healthcare outcomes.
Knack RCM, in its official announcement, noted that Gautam brings more than two decades of experience scaling AI-led businesses and delivering enterprise transformation through technology and operations. His appointment signals Knack’s strong strategic focus on expanding its innovation-driven healthcare services platform while continuing to support providers in accelerating payments, improving efficiencies, and delivering actionable operational insights.
Before joining Knack RCM, Gautam Barai served as Founder at NOVARETE LLP for nearly two years. NOVARETE operates as an IT-enabled BPM platform focused on Healthcare, Insurance, and select BFS segments, with significant capital commitment from Hillhouse Investment, pursuing expansion through both organic growth and acquisitions. This entrepreneurial leadership phase further strengthened Gautam’s ability to build platforms from the ground up while aligning strategy, growth, and execution in high-impact sectors.
Earlier, Gautam built a long and highly influential leadership career at WNS (Holdings) Limited (NYSE: WNS), where he spent over 14 years across senior roles. Most recently, he served as Chief Operating Officer, where he acted as an orchestrator of company strategy, performance, and growth. In this capacity, he led industry verticals and horizontals, as well as sales, account management, marketing, analyst relations, technology, analytics, and global operations across delivery locations, supporting a workforce of 60,000+ colleagues across 15 countries, while also collaborating closely with the Board on corporate strategy and shareholder value creation. Prior to becoming COO, he was Chief Business Officer, leading key industry practices such as BFSI, Healthcare, and Life Sciences, while also managing responsibilities across analytics, finance & accounting, and digital & technology.
Gautam also held senior leadership roles at Bank of America, where he served as SVP – Business Executive Operations, managing a large Mortgage, Home Equity & Insurance Services portfolio with 5,000+ FTEs across multiple locations and driving operating model transformation. Prior to that, he was SVP – Head of Operations (COO) at Countrywide Financial Corporation, overseeing operations across retail banking, insurance, analytics, HR, and technology shared services across India and Costa Rica.
Gautam Barai holds an MBA from Columbia Business School. He also completed an MBA in Strategy & Finance from London Business School.
