Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, February 2026 – Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC) has announced the appointment of Manoj Thakur as Chief Technology Officer, strengthening its leadership as it advances interoperable and inclusive digital commerce infrastructure in India.
Manoj brings deep expertise in building large-scale technology systems and driving innovation across some of the world’s most complex digital environments. His career journey spans from building software systems for the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics to leading distributed computing platforms at global technology giants such as Flipkart, Microsoft, IBM India, and most recently Adobe, where he contributed to foundational GenAI innovation initiatives.
Most recently, Manoj served as Senior Director of Engineering, Digital Experience at Adobe, where he led the Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) from inception to a market-leading product exceeding $1B ARR. He defined and executed a multi-year roadmap integrating AI, GenAI-driven data intelligence, and cloud infrastructure. He also oversaw Site Reliability Engineering and global data center expansion, ensuring scalability, reliability, and high availability. Earlier at Adobe, he led Advertising Cloud Engineering in India and built high-performance engineering teams to support massive-scale data systems.
Before Adobe, Manoj held senior technology leadership roles at Flipkart, where he built next-generation intelligent fulfillment platforms for Ekart Logistics and scaled core user systems significantly during peak growth phases. At Guavus Inc, he led big data product engineering for telecom analytics platforms. His earlier career includes leadership positions at Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Narus, and IBM India, building enterprise-grade distributed systems and high-performance teams.
An alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (BE, Electronics & Communication) and Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (PGSM – Software Enterprise Management), Manoj combines deep technical expertise with strong business acumen.
With Manoj joining the leadership team, ONDC reinforces its commitment to building resilient, future-ready technology that promotes inclusion, transparency, and innovation in digital commerce.
