United States, August 2026 — Heartland Business Systems (HBS) has appointed Michael Lagg as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), bringing an accomplished sales executive with more than 30 years of experience across technology, digital services, data infrastructure and enterprise sales leadership.
In his new role, Lagg will bring extensive experience in revenue growth, go-to-market strategy, sales transformation, channel development and customer success to HBS. His career has included leadership of large-scale sales organizations and responsibility for aligning sales, marketing, enablement, channels, solution engineering and customer success around growth objectives.
Prior to joining HBS, Lagg served as Chief Sales Officer at TierPoint from January 2024 to July 2026. He led Sales, Marketing, Enablement, Channel, Solution Engineering, Customer Success and Sales Operations. During his tenure, he helped increase monthly recurring revenue bookings by 21% year-over-year in his first full year, launched a Customer Success organization and reorganized the sales function around a hybrid seller and pod-based model. He also oversaw continued growth in the company’s managed services business.
Earlier, Lagg spent more than 21 years with Iron Mountain, progressing through a series of increasingly senior sales leadership roles. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Head of Sales, Global Industries, leading an organization responsible for a significant share of the company’s net-new bookings and serving major customers across North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. He previously served as Senior Vice President, North America, overseeing more than 350 sales leaders, sellers and customer success professionals supporting over $2 billion in customer spend.
His Iron Mountain career also included roles as Vice President, National Accounts; Vice President, Mid-Market; Regional Sales Director; and Business Development Executive. Across these assignments, Lagg built experience in recurring revenue growth, strategic account management, cross-selling, sales coverage models, digital sales transformation and leadership development. Before Iron Mountain, he spent approximately eight years with ADP, where he served as District Sales Manager, following an early-career role with Lehman Brothers.
