Sub-Saharan Africa / Saudi Arabia, March 2026 – Mondelēz International has appointed Hisham Ezz El-Arab as President, Sub-Saharan Africa, marking a significant leadership move as the company strengthens its presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing and most dynamic regions.
In his new role, Ezz El-Arab will lead Mondelēz’s business across 49 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, serving a population of over 1.3 billion people. He will oversee operations for a portfolio of iconic brands including Cadbury, OREO, Bournvita, Tom Tom, Stimorol, and Halls, which are deeply embedded in the daily lives of millions of consumers across the continent.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Ezz El-Arab highlighted the region’s extraordinary demographic momentum, rapid urbanization, and expanding middle class, emphasizing its immense long-term growth potential and entrepreneurial spirit.
In his current role at Mondelēz International, Hisham Ezz El-Arab takes on leadership of the Sub-Saharan Africa business, focusing on driving growth, strengthening market presence, and advancing the company’s mission to “empower people to snack right.”
Prior to this, he served as Regional Vice President – Business Acceleration (AMEA) at Danone, where he led strategic initiatives across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, driving transformation and business growth across diverse markets.
Earlier, he was Chief Executive Officer at Al Safi Danone, overseeing operations across 12 countries, managing large-scale manufacturing facilities, and leading a workforce of over 3,500 employees from multiple nationalities, while driving business transformation and leadership development.
He also spent nearly two decades at Danone, holding multiple leadership roles including General Manager in Turkey and the Philippines, and senior marketing roles across Egypt, Turkey, and France, building deep expertise in emerging markets and brand leadership.
He began his career at Procter & Gamble, where he held several roles over nearly a decade, developing strong foundations in brand management and business strategy.
