Zurich, Switzerland, April 2026 — ABB has elevated Anna-Leena Nurkkala to the role of Head of HR Mergers and Acquisitions, recognizing her deep expertise in HR integration, employee benefits, and strategic people management across complex global transactions.
In her new role, Anna-Leena will lead HR strategy for mergers and acquisitions, focusing on seamless integration, organizational design, talent retention, and alignment of people practices to support ABB’s growth and transformation agenda.
Anna-Leena has built a strong career spanning over 15 years, specializing in HR M&A, compensation and benefits, and organizational integration within global organizations.
She has been with ABB for over four years, most recently serving as HR M&A Manager, where she played a key role in supporting strategic transactions and ensuring effective people integration during acquisitions and restructuring initiatives.
Prior to joining ABB, she spent over 13 years at Nokia, where she held multiple roles of increasing responsibility. As HR M&A Manager and Employee Benefits Specialist, she contributed to global HR integration strategies, while earlier roles as an Employee Benefits and HR M&A Consultant and Compensation & Benefits Specialist helped her develop deep expertise in managing complex workforce transitions and aligning compensation frameworks across geographies.
Her early professional experience includes working with Handelsbanken in Sweden, where she gained exposure to financial services and corporate operations.
Across her career, Anna-Leena has demonstrated a strong ability to navigate complex organizational changes, drive HR due diligence, and ensure smooth workforce integration, making her well-positioned to lead ABB’s HR M&A function at a global level.
Anna-Leena holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Oulu, with specialization in Corporate Law, Corporate Management, Corporate Finance, and Marketing.
