Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, April 2026 — Visa has appointed Suresh Sethi as its India Country Head, marking a significant leadership move as the global payments giant strengthens its position in India’s rapidly expanding digital payments ecosystem.
In his new role, Suresh will be responsible for driving Visa’s India strategy, expanding partnerships, and accelerating growth across digital payments, financial inclusion, and innovation-led initiatives, aligning with the country’s evolving fintech landscape.
Suresh brings over three decades of leadership experience across banking, fintech, and digital payments, with a strong track record of building scalable financial platforms and driving innovation at a national level.
He most recently served as Managing Director & CEO at Protean eGov Technologies Ltd. (formerly NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd.), where he led large-scale digital public infrastructure initiatives and contributed to strengthening India’s digital ecosystem.
Prior to this, he was the Founder CEO of India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), where he played a transformative role in creating one of the most extensive financial inclusion platforms in the country. Under his leadership, IPPB built a pan-India interoperable banking infrastructure, leveraging over 155,000 post offices and 300,000+ postal employees, enabling accessible and affordable banking services for millions of citizens.
Earlier, Suresh served as Managing Director & CEO at Vodafone M-Pesa Limited, where he was instrumental in shaping India’s mobile payments ecosystem, building a $1 billion business, and contributing to the development of regulatory frameworks for payments banks in India.
He also held senior leadership roles at YES Bank, where he was part of the founding team and played a key role in building transaction banking, digital payments, and alternate channel strategies, and at Citigroup, where he led global transaction services businesses across multiple geographies including Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Throughout his career, Suresh has been deeply involved in policy advocacy, digital innovation, and financial inclusion initiatives, working closely with regulators, governments, and global institutions to shape the future of payments and banking.
Suresh holds an MBA in Marketing & Finance from the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi, one of India’s premier business schools.
