London, United Kingdom, March 2026 – Lloyds Banking Group has appointed Irene Asare as Head of People Partnering for People & Places, strengthening its leadership as it continues its transformation journey in the evolving financial services landscape.
Irene brings deep expertise in strategic HR leadership, organisational transformation, and executive partnering, with a strong track record of driving people and culture agendas in complex, global organisations. In her new role, she will play a key part in aligning people strategy with business priorities to deliver meaningful impact as Lloyds Banking Group advances its purpose of helping Britain prosper.
In her new role at Lloyds Banking Group, Irene Asare takes on the responsibility of leading People Partnering for the People & Places function, supporting transformation and strengthening alignment between workforce strategy and business goals.
Prior to this, she served as Global Human Resources Director at BBC News, where she partnered closely with the CEO and executive leadership to drive workforce transformation across a highly complex global organisation operating in over 60 locations. She played a central role in shaping people strategy during a major shift toward a digital-first operating model.
Earlier, she held leadership roles at Tullow Oil, including Director of Business Services and HR Director, where she led large-scale organisational transformation, workforce integration, and governance initiatives in a fast-evolving energy business.
She also served as Regional Head of Human Resources at Standard Bank Group and held senior transformation roles at Vodacom (part of Vodafone Group), driving organisational effectiveness, leadership capability, and multi-country HR strategies across African markets during periods of significant change.
In the earlier phase of her career, Irene held HR leadership roles at Vodafone, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Serco, building deep expertise in business partnering, transformation, and HR strategy across global and highly regulated industries.
Irene holds a Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) from China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Kingston University, reflecting her strong academic and professional foundation.
