Panama City, Panamá, Panama, March 2026 — GenFlat Containers has appointed Robbert van Trooijen as a Non-Executive Board Member, strengthening the company’s governance and strategic oversight as it scales the commercialization of its collapsible marine container technology. In this role, he also serves as Chair of the Remuneration Committee and is a member of the Audit and Governance committees.
GenFlat’s patented container technology is designed to improve sustainability and efficiency in global container logistics by collapsing four empty containers into the space of one in roughly 80 seconds, helping reduce repositioning costs, storage needs, and emissions at scale. The company states that its containers meet ISO-certified standards through Lloyd’s Registry and are manufactured in partnership with CIMC in Dalian, China.
Before joining GenFlat Containers, Robbert van Trooijen served as Global Chairman at Hamburg Süd, bringing leadership experience across international shipping and logistics. He also spent nearly two decades with A.P. Moller – Maersk, serving in multiple senior leadership roles including President, Latin America and the Caribbean, President, Asia Pacific Region, and earlier regional presidencies across Latin America and West & Central Asia—building deep expertise in ocean logistics, network strategy, and equipment flow management.
Alongside his industry leadership experience, he is active in advisory and board roles. He serves as a Senior Advisor – Travel, Logistics and Infrastructure at McKinsey & Company, and is a Contributing Writer for the Journal of Commerce (S&P Global). He is also a Member of the Board of Advisors for the Georgia Tech Panama Logistics Innovation and Research Center, and has held trusteeship roles with the International School of Panama, as well as board experience with the Sheltersuit Foundation.
He is also the Founder of Inception Partners LLC, Inc., a Panama-based consultancy focused on logistics, and serves as Executive Director at Inception Holdings LLC, Inc.
