Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, March 2026 – ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India has announced a key leadership transition with Amit Harlalka set to take over as Chief Executive Officer effective July 1, 2026, succeeding Dilip Oommen, who will retire after more than two decades with the organization.
Currently serving as Chief Financial Officer at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, Amit Harlalka has been instrumental in driving financial strategy, governance, and business performance for the company. Prior to this, he held the role of Deputy Chief Financial Officer, where he contributed significantly to strengthening the company’s financial framework and operational efficiency.
Before returning to India, he served as Chief Financial Officer (Global) at ArcelorMittal International, based in Dubai, where he led global finance operations across multiple markets, demonstrating strong expertise in international business finance and strategic leadership.
Earlier, he was Chief Financial Officer at ArcelorMittal Mexico, overseeing financial operations for one of the company’s major manufacturing units. His tenure included managing financial accounting, treasury, governance, and internal controls at scale.
He began his journey with ArcelorMittal in various finance leadership roles, including Joint CFO (Financial Controller) at ArcelorMittal Mexico, followed by roles in regional financial controlling for Asia, Africa, and CIS markets, and as a Financial and Project Controller at ArcelorMittal Bosnia, where he was part of the senior management team involved in a major turnaround initiative. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Financial Accountant at Hindustan Unilever Limited, building a strong foundation in financial reporting and compliance.
Dilip Oommen, who has led the organization through its transformation from Essar Steel to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, will step down on June 30, 2026, after a distinguished 22-year tenure. He will continue to be associated with the organization as a Board Member of ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India and will take on the role of Vice-Chairman at ArcelorMittal India Private Limited, ensuring continuity and strategic guidance.
Amit Harlalka holds an MBA in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, one of India’s premier business schools.
