Rome, Italy, April 2026 — Michele Gamberini has started a new position as Chief Technology Officer at INWIT S.p.A., bringing extensive global experience across telecom infrastructure, network engineering, innovation, IT, wireless networks, service platforms, 5G, and large-scale technology operations.
In his new role at INWIT S.p.A., Michele Gamberini will support the company’s technology strategy as Italy’s leading tower operator continues to strengthen wireless infrastructure, mobile coverage, DAS networks, and next-generation connectivity capabilities.
Before joining INWIT S.p.A., Michele served as Chief Executive Officer at Smart City Roma S.p.A. – Gruppo INWIT, where he contributed to smart city infrastructure and connectivity initiatives in Rome.
Earlier, he served as Chief Innovation Officer at Wind Tre and Chief Technology and Information Officer at MTN South Africa, building strong international leadership experience across telecom innovation, technology transformation, and large-scale network operations.
Michele spent more than 16 years with TIM, where he held several senior roles including Chief Technology and Information Officer, Head of Network and Service Engineering, Head of Core, Transport and Service Platforms, Head of Core Network and NFV Infrastructure, Head of Wireless Network Engineering and Innovation, and multiple network operations leadership roles.
His earlier career includes leadership roles with TIM Hellas as Chief Network Officer, Amena España as Head of Radio Access Engineering, TIM as Cell Planning Coordinator, and Omnitel Italia as Cell Planning Focal Point.
