Pedro Werneck Amado Promoted to Regional Chief of Human Resources Latin America & The Caribbean at UNICEF

Panama, May 2024 – UNICEF is pleased to announce the promotion of Pedro Werneck Amado to the position of Regional Chief of Human Resources Latin America & The Caribbean. In his decade-long tenure at UNICEF, Pedro has consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership and dedication to advancing human resources initiatives.

Pedro Werneck Amado has made significant contributions to UNICEF throughout his career. Recently, he served as Human Resources Management from September 2021 to May 2024 in Valencia, Spain. In this role, he provided strategic HR management, focusing on enhancing organizational effectiveness and employee engagement across multiple regions. His efforts were pivotal in implementing innovative HR policies that aligned with UNICEF’s mission and goals.

Before that, Pedro held the role of Supply Community Manager from June 2014 to June 2022 in Copenhagen, Denmark. In this capacity, he managed supply chain operations, ensuring the efficient delivery of essential supplies to various UNICEF programs. His expertise in supply chain management and community engagement was instrumental in optimizing UNICEF’s supply processes and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.

Earlier in his career, Pedro worked with the United Nations as a Learning & Development / Training Officer from September 2006 to January 2013. During this period, he was responsible for designing and delivering training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of UN staff members. His contributions were key to building a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the organization.

Pedro also served as an Operations Manager & Lead Consultant at Alaya Expedicoes from January 2002 to August 2006 in São Paulo, Brazil, and at Dinsmore Associates from January 1998 to December 2001 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In these roles, he led various operational and consulting projects, driving organizational improvements and delivering value to clients through effective project management and strategic consulting.
