Abhishek Makkar Joins REA India as Chief Technology Officer

Gurgaon, Haryana, India, February 2025 – Abhishek Makkar has been appointed as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at REA India, the parent company of Housing.com and PropTiger.com. Based in Gurgaon, he will oversee the Engineering and Data Science teams, driving the company’s digital transformation and technology-led innovation. With extensive experience in eCommerce technology, scalable platforms, and AI-driven solutions, he is set to strengthen REA India’s position as a leader in the PropTech industry.

Prior to joining REA India, Abhishek Makkar spent nearly eight years at Expedia Group India, where he held multiple leadership roles, including Vice President, Technology. He led eCommerce platforms, fraud risk detection systems, and big data-driven security solutions. Before Expedia, he worked at Amazon, where he was instrumental in enhancing retail experiences and optimizing delivery solutions worldwide. His expertise in building scalable platforms and leveraging AI aligns with REA India’s vision of revolutionizing real estate technology.

Abhishek Makkar brings a rich background in technology leadership and product innovation. Before his current role at REA India, he was Vice President of Technology at Expedia Group, responsible for ordering, checkout, and fraud risk detection systems. Over his seven-year tenure, he played a key role in scaling the company’s core eCommerce infrastructure and digital operations.

Prior to Expedia, he worked at Amazon as Software Development Manager, leading global alternate delivery experiences and digital deals infrastructure. His career also includes key positions at RBS Markets & International Banking, Serus Corporation, i2 Technologies, and Intel, focusing on software development, distributed computing, and supply chain technologies.

Abhishek Makkar holds an M.Tech in Information Technology from the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT Bangalore) and a B.E. in Information Technology from Maharshi Dayanand University. His strong academic foundation in technology and innovation has been instrumental in his ability to lead large-scale digital transformation initiatives.
