Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, November 2025 — Aditya Swamy has been elevated to the role of Managing Director – Google Play, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career and leadership journey at Google. In this expanded mandate, Aditya will oversee Google Play’s operations and growth across India, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, driving strategic initiatives that enhance developer success, user experience, and ecosystem innovation. With a career spanning more than two decades across technology, media, e-commerce, and consumer goods, Aditya has been instrumental in shaping the digital and app economy in the region.
At Google, he has led pivotal programs including Google for Startups, strengthening partnerships and accelerating the growth of digital-first businesses in emerging markets. Over approximately eight years with the company, his progressive roles—from Director, Google Play and Google for Startups to Regional Director and now Managing Director—reflect the trust placed in his vision and leadership.
Prior to joining Google, Aditya served as Senior Director at Flipkart, where he played a crucial role in conceptualizing and executing campaigns like the Big Billion Day, which redefined India’s e-commerce landscape.
Before that, he spent nearly a decade at Viacom18 Media Private Limited, where he held multiple senior positions, including Executive Vice President & Business Head and Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing, and was key in revitalizing MTV’s youth engagement strategy and pioneering new media formats.
Earlier in his career, Aditya worked at The Coca-Cola Company for about eight years, where he held several leadership roles including General Manager – Marketing. His work there honed his expertise in brand strategy and consumer marketing, forming the foundation of his multidimensional leadership approach.
