Jharsuguda, Odisha, India, April 2025 — Ajay Kumar Pandey has been designated as Chief Executive Officer (Power) at Vedanta Limited – Aluminium Business, taking charge of the company’s massive 3615 MW captive power operations at its Jharsuguda facility. With over 25 years of diverse industry experience, Mr. Pandey assumes a pivotal leadership role that aligns with Vedanta’s strategic ambition to optimize operational excellence while driving sustainable and responsible power generation.

Prior to this appointment, Mr. Pandey served as Chief Operating Officer – Power at Vedanta Resources Limited, where he was instrumental in introducing advanced digital practices, optimizing ash management, and strengthening supply chain frameworks. His tenure at Vedanta has been marked by progressive responsibilities across entities such as Balco, where he oversaw safety and operations as Head of Health, Safety & Fire, and led power plant operations through roles like Plant Head of Captive Power Plants. These experiences reflect his deep-rooted expertise in high-stakes industrial environments and his ability to scale operations with agility.

Mr. Pandey began his career at ACC Cement and Malco, where he built a strong foundation in thermal power operations. His long-standing association with the Vedanta Group—spanning over two decades—showcases his commitment to transformative leadership in the energy domain. Through various capacities, he has played a crucial role in strengthening ESG frameworks, modernizing infrastructure, and building resilient operational models that balance cost-efficiency with environmental stewardship.
