Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, January 2025 – Alexis Brown has joined the Philadelphia Zoo as its new Chief People Officer, bringing a wealth of expertise in strategic human resources and organizational leadership. Alexis will lead efforts to enhance employee engagement, development, and diversity while contributing to the Zoo’s mission of conservation, science, and education.
Alexis joins the Philadelphia Zoo after serving as Chief People Officer at World Relief, where she oversaw the global people operations team, fostering employee engagement and spearheading DEIB initiatives. Her leadership drove strategic growth and talent management for the organization.

Before World Relief, Alexis held roles such as Human Resources Business Partner and Human Resources Manager at Youth Enrichment Programs, INC, focusing on talent development, recruitment, and policy development. Additionally, Alexis served as an educator, contributing as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers University and Eastern University, developing leadership skills and HR acumen among graduate and undergraduate students.
Her career also includes leadership roles in community-focused organizations, including a decade-long tenure as Executive Director at the Community Women’s Education Project, where she directed educational programs and managed operations for literacy and development initiatives in North Philadelphia.
