London, United Kingdom, December 2024 – Allison Long has taken on the role of Interim Director of People and Culture at Refuge, the UK’s largest provider of services for survivors of domestic violence. Reporting to the Chief Executive and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, Allison will lead the People and Culture team during a critical period of transition. Her key responsibilities include supporting the talented People team to deliver Q4 objectives, refining HR contributions to the business plan for FY 2025–26, and driving Refuge’s culture and values forward.
Before joining Refuge, Allison served as Director of People at Precious, where she successfully transformed HR services, implemented cost-saving recruitment strategies, and drove regulatory compliance improvements. Her efforts resulted in significant reductions in voluntary turnover and agency worker costs, while enhancing employee retention and engagement.
Prior to Precious, Allison spent over nine years at Cross Keys Homes, where she held the role of Executive Director for Organisation Effectiveness and HR. She was instrumental in workforce planning, cultural transformation, and the introduction of innovative competency-based pay frameworks. She also oversaw IT initiatives and transitioned the workforce to remote operations during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Earlier in her career, Allison worked at Caterpillar Inc. as a Global Senior Human Resources Manager, where she led HR standardization projects across global regions, drove employee engagement initiatives, and implemented change management practices. Her tenure at Environment Agency, Cable & Wireless Communications, and Sainsbury’s further showcases her versatile HR expertise across various sectors.
Allison’s extensive experience in HR leadership, business transformation, and employee engagement positions her to make a significant impact at Refuge as it continues its mission of supporting survivors and driving social change.
