Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India, October 2025 — Axiro Semiconductor Private Limited, a leading fabless semiconductor design and solutions company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) to advance joint research, innovation, and talent development in the field of semiconductor design and related technologies.

Under the MoU, Axiro and IIT Kanpur will collaborate in areas such as integrated circuit (IC) design, wireless communication systems, signal processing, and RF front-end technologies. The partnership aims to foster applied research, build skilled semiconductor talent, and strengthen academia–industry linkages within India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem.

As part of the collaboration, both organizations will jointly drive initiatives including student internships, capstone projects, research-based problem solving, and innovation challenges. Axiro will also conduct guest lectures, masterclasses, and mentoring programs led by its senior engineers and product experts, helping students gain real-world exposure to semiconductor design and product engineering.

Speaking on the collaboration, Naveen Yanduru, CEO, Axiro Semiconductor, said: “At Axiro, we believe India’s semiconductor growth story will be defined by how effectively industry and academia collaborate to bridge the gap between design innovation and real-world application. Our partnership with IIT Kanpur reflects this belief, combining academic excellence with Axiro’s deep-tech expertise to nurture next-generation semiconductor talent and accelerate indigenous innovation.”

Echoing this sentiment, Prof. Tarun Gupta, Dean (Research and Development), IIT Kanpur, said: “This partnership with Axiro Semiconductor aligns with IIT Kanpur’s mission to foster impactful collaborations that translate research into tangible technological advancements. By working closely with industry pioneers like Axiro, we aim to create a strong pipeline of skilled engineers and researchers capable of driving India’s semiconductor innovation agenda.”

The collaboration represents a significant step in strengthening India’s semiconductor R&D ecosystem, blending Axiro’s design-led industry expertise with IIT Kanpur’s academic and research excellence. Together, the two institutions will focus on building a sustainable, innovation-driven talent and technology ecosystem that supports India’s ambition to become a global semiconductor hub.
