Velislava Zadurian Appointed as Head of People and Culture at UniCredit Bulbank

Sofia, Sofia City, Bulgaria, May 2025 – Velislava Zadurian has stepped into the role of Head of People and Culture at UniCredit Bulbank, marking a significant milestone in her 15-year journey with the bank and the broader UniCredit Group. In this new role, Velislava will lead the People & Culture function with a strong focus on building a unified, future-ready, and employee-centric culture that aligns with UniCredit’s pan-European strategy.

Prior to this appointment, Velislava served as Head of P&C Strategic Partners and Learning & Development at UniCredit Bulbank, where she spearheaded workforce development programs, leadership initiatives, and strategic HR partnerships across the bank. Her leadership in this role played a pivotal part in talent acquisition, employer branding, and learning strategy.

Previously, she held the position of Head of Central Europe & Eastern Europe Learning and Development at UniCredit Group, where she was responsible for aligning learning frameworks across countries, including Bulgaria and Italy. Her efforts were integral in implementing cross-border learning initiatives that enhanced the leadership pipeline across multiple geographies.

Before that, she served as Head of Learning and Development at UniCredit Bulbank, following earlier roles as HR Business Partner, Training Expert, and Compensation & Benefits Specialist. Across these positions, Velislava played a key role in shaping HR policies, creating training ecosystems, and driving organizational transformation through people practices.

Her early career began at Bulwork, where she served as a Senior HR Consultant, managing recruitment processes and aligning candidate potential with organizational needs in the tech and finance sectors.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
