New York, United States / São Paulo, Brazil, July 2026 — B Lab has announced the appointments of Emma Ingersoll Schned as Chief People & Operations Officer and Marcel Fukayama as Chief Impact & Movement Officer, strengthening its executive leadership as the global nonprofit continues to drive systems change and advance the worldwide B Corp movement.
The appointments bring together two highly respected leaders whose combined expertise spans organizational transformation, governance, people strategy, policy advocacy, impact investing, and movement building. Together, they will help strengthen B Lab’s internal organizational capability while accelerating its global mission of creating an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy.
Emma Ingersoll Schned Appointed Chief People & Operations Officer
Emma Ingersoll Schned steps into the role after more than nine years of leadership at B Lab, where she has played a central role in shaping the organization’s governance, strategic direction, and global transformation initiatives.
Most recently, Emma served as Head of Global Transformation, leading one of the most significant organizational transformation programs in B Lab’s history. She spearheaded the evolution of the global network’s governance, operating model, strategy, shared culture, and organizational design, helping position the organization for its next phase of global growth while supporting the rollout of B Lab’s new standards.
Earlier, she served as Director of Strategy & Governance, where she led enterprise strategy development, governance modernization, annual planning, and cross-functional organizational initiatives supporting the rapidly expanding global B Lab network.
She initially joined B Lab as Chief of Staff, partnering closely with executive leadership to strengthen organizational effectiveness, strategic planning, governance, and executive operations during a period of rapid international expansion.
Before joining B Lab, Emma worked as an Independent Strategy and Fundraising Consultant, advising organizations including Ocean Unite, Virgin Unite, and the B Team on strategic planning, partnership development, fundraising, advocacy, and organizational growth. She also supported Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild’s policy and fundraising initiatives during the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign.
Earlier in her career, Emma held leadership positions with Virgin Unite, CA Technologies in Corporate Social Responsibility, Clinton Global Initiative, and the Human Rights Campaign, building deep expertise at the intersection of business, sustainability, philanthropy, governance, and social impact.
As Chief People & Operations Officer, Emma will oversee B Lab’s global people strategy, organizational culture, governance, operational excellence, and enterprise resilience across its international network.
Marcel Fukayama Appointed Chief Impact & Movement Officer
Marcel Fukayama joins B Lab’s executive leadership after more than 25 years of experience spanning social entrepreneurship, impact investing, policy advocacy, innovative finance, and global movement building.
Prior to this appointment, Marcel served as Senior Policy Advisor at B Lab after previously leading the organization’s global public policy agenda as Head of Global Policy, where he worked to advance stakeholder governance, responsible business regulation, capital market reform, and policy initiatives supporting systems change worldwide.
Marcel is widely recognized as the Co-Founder of Sistema B Brasil, which introduced and expanded the B Corp movement throughout Brazil, and also co-founded Din4mo, an impact business dedicated to reducing inequality through innovative finance and entrepreneurship. His work has focused on strengthening ecosystems that support social entrepreneurs, impact investors, and inclusive economic development.
Previously, he served as Executive Director of Sistema B International, helping expand the B Corp movement throughout Latin America while strengthening collaboration across regional organizations.
Beyond B Lab, Marcel currently serves on Brazil’s Sustainable Social Economic Development Council (CDESS), advising the President of Brazil on economic, social, and sustainable development policy. He also serves as Advisory Board Chair of Aliança pelo Impacto, Board Member of IDIS, Advisory Council Member at CENPEC, and has held numerous leadership positions across the global impact investing and social innovation ecosystem.
Earlier in his career, Marcel served as CEO of CDI Global, one of Latin America’s pioneering digital inclusion organizations, following earlier leadership roles as COO of CDI Lan, Regional Manager at iGames, and entrepreneur-founder of Seicomp e-Conveniências, one of São Paulo’s earliest internet café businesses.
As Chief Impact & Movement Officer, Marcel will lead B Lab’s global policy agenda, advocacy initiatives, strategic partnerships, movement-building efforts, and international positioning, helping expand the influence and impact of the global B Corp movement.
Together, Emma and Marcel’s appointments reinforce B Lab’s commitment to combining strong internal organizational capability with bold external advocacy to accelerate the transformation of business as a force for good.
