Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand, October 2024 – Belinda Baird has begun her new role as Head of People & Industrial Relations at Lyttelton Port Company. In her new position, Belinda will lead the company’s people strategy and manage industrial relations, ensuring a harmonious workplace and effective engagement with unions. She will also oversee HR operations to support the company’s long-term growth and success.
Belinda previously served as Head of People at Lyttelton Port Company for nearly two years, where she played a key role in managing the organization’s HR functions. Her focus was on change management, leadership development, and union relations, which helped the company improve its people management processes.
Prior to that, Belinda took on the role of Acting Head of People, where she managed employee relations and collective bargaining. Her efforts significantly contributed to creating a collaborative work environment and a smoother negotiation process with unions.
Belinda also worked as a Senior People Business Partner at Lyttelton Port, where she was responsible for succession planning, talent management, and policy writing. Her expertise in these areas helped strengthen the port’s HR strategy.
Before joining Lyttelton Port, she served as People & Capability Business Partner at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE), where she supported various HR initiatives, including job description development and talent management, during the critical Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) operations.
