Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, September 2024 – The Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Bhushan Akshikar as its new President. With a career spanning over two decades in the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Akshikar brings a wealth of experience and a strategic vision that will be pivotal in advancing OPPI’s mission of fostering innovation and enhancing patient access to healthcare across India.
Mr. Akshikar has held several key leadership roles in the pharmaceutical sector, with significant contributions at GSK as the Managing Director, overseeing a team of 3,500+ associates and driving substantial topline revenues. His diverse experience includes leadership positions such as Area Director – Vaccines for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Russia CIS, and Managing Director for West Africa, among others.
Prior to GSK, Mr. Akshikar also spent over 15 years at Johnson & Johnson in various roles across India, South Korea, and Belgium, where he was instrumental in building commercial strategies and driving growth.
