Bill McDunphy Appointed as Global Head of Learning Strategy & Process Ownership at Novartis

Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, January 2026 – Novartis has announced the appointment of Bill McDunphy as Global Head of Learning Strategy & Process Ownership within the Learning Centre of Excellence. In this global role, he is responsible for defining, steering, and continuously improving Novartis’ enterprise learning strategy, governance, and global learning process frameworks, ensuring harmonised, compliant, and high-impact learning systems that support future talent needs and operational excellence across the organization.

With more than a decade of leadership at Novartis, Bill McDunphy has built a distinguished global learning leadership career within the organization. Prior to this appointment, he served as Global Head of Learning Foundations within the Learning Centre of Excellence, where he held responsibility for overall learning portfolio strategy and played a pivotal role in delivering major enterprise learning transformations.

Earlier, he served for over five years as Global Head of Learning – Global Business Services, leading a global team of more than 90 multi-disciplinary learning experts across Dublin, Mexico, and Hyderabad. In this role, he provided strategic leadership, built customized learning solutions supporting Novartis’ “care and cure” mission, and championed lifelong learning as a core capability for talent attraction, development, and retention.

Before this, Bill McDunphy held successive leadership roles within Novartis as Project Management Team Lead and Learning Project Manager, where he led learning design and delivery initiatives across global internal client groups and strengthened project delivery excellence across blended, instructor-led, and digital learning portfolios.

Prior to joining Novartis, Bill McDunphy spent nearly a decade at Intuition Publishing Ltd. as General Manager – Life Sciences and Lead Consultant, leading business development and global learning consultancy across the life sciences sector. He began his career managing e-learning projects for major finance and telecom organizations at Interactive Services, and earlier served as Buyer and Inventory Manager at SMC Pneumatics, building strong foundations in operational and business process management.
