Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, December 2025 – Carmina M. Chu has started a new position as Director, Human Resources at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI), marking a significant progression in her long-standing career within Canada’s healthcare and research ecosystem. In this role, she will lead the institute’s human resources strategy, supporting a complex research environment focused on advancing discovery, innovation, and patient outcomes.
In her current role as Director, Human Resources at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute, Carmina M. Chu is responsible for guiding HR leadership across the organization, building on her deep institutional knowledge and experience within the hospital and research system. Her appointment reflects continuity and confidence in her ability to align people strategy with the evolving needs of a leading research institute.
Prior to this role, she served as Manager, Human Resources at Ottawa Hospital Research Institute for over six years. In this capacity, she played a key role in managing HR operations, advising leaders on workforce matters, and supporting a diverse employee base spanning research, clinical, and administrative functions.
Earlier, Carmina M. Chu spent more than a decade with The Ottawa Hospital, where she worked as Officer, Compensation and Classification. In this role, she developed strong expertise in compensation frameworks, job evaluation, and classification systems within a large and complex healthcare organization.
She began her HR career with generalist and recruitment-focused roles, including experience as a Human Resources Generalist with CGI and earlier as a Recruitment Consultant at Rogers Communications, building a solid foundation in recruitment, HR operations, and people advisory services.
