Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, March 2025 – Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy (SWREL) has appointed Chandra Kishore Thakur as its Global CEO, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth journey. With a proven track record in leadership, infrastructure, and renewable energy, Chandra is poised to drive SWREL’s transformation, innovation, and sustainability agenda across international markets.
Chandra has been an integral part of Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy for over seven years, most recently serving as CEO for Asia, Africa, Europe, and Latin America. In this role, he successfully led solar EPC project operations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, ensuring strategic expansion and operational excellence. Prior to this, he served as Chief Operating Officer – International Solar Business, where he played a pivotal role in managing large-scale solar EPC projects and driving renewable energy adoption worldwide.
Before joining SWREL, Chandra held leadership roles at Punj Lloyd Limited, where he served as President and CEO of Infrastructure and Power Business, overseeing major infrastructure projects and energy initiatives. Earlier, he spent nearly eight years at Lanco, holding positions including Chief Operating Officer, EPC Vertical, and Executive Director of Projects, where he spearheaded energy project development and execution strategies.
Chandra’s extensive career in the energy sector began with NTPC Limited, where he spent over two decades in roles such as Deputy General Manager of Project Planning & Monitoring and Manager of Erection & Commissioning. His contributions in project management, engineering, and commissioning laid the foundation for his expertise in renewable energy, infrastructure, and operational strategy.
Chandra holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration and Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University and an Advanced Diploma in Program Management from the Asian Institute of Management. His academic and professional expertise positions him to lead Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy’s global growth and sustainability initiatives.
