Houston, Texas, United States, September 2025 — Cherise Childs, aPHR has been appointed as Director, People & Culture at New Hope Housing, Inc., marking a new milestone in her nearly four-year journey with the organization. In her new role, Cherise will lead the strategic direction of the people function, overseeing areas such as employee engagement, organizational culture, benefits administration, and talent support initiatives, all vital to fulfilling the mission of New Hope Housing.
Cherise has been with New Hope Housing since 2021, steadily rising through the ranks. She began as a Human Resources Generalist, where she contributed to core HR practices before being promoted to Manager, People & Culture in 2023. In that role, she led initiatives focused on employee experience, wellbeing, and retention, while also streamlining HR operations to support the nonprofit’s expanding mission.
Prior to joining New Hope Housing, Cherise spent over 14 years as Business Manager at University Cheer Air Force, Inc., where she was responsible for overseeing operational functions in a dynamic, performance-focused environment. Her time there helped sharpen her skills in leadership, administration, and team development.
A graduate of the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Motel, and Restaurant Management, Cherise was also a student-athlete, actively involved in the university’s cheerleading program. She brings a people-first mindset and a commitment to inclusive, mission-aligned culture building to her new position.
