Dan Harris Appointed as Head of Finance People Capability at BAE Systems

Preston, England, United Kingdom, October 2024 — BAE Systems has announced the appointment of Dan Harris as the new Head of Finance People Capability. In this role, Dan will be responsible for developing and enhancing the financial capability of the company’s finance team across various sectors. His extensive experience in finance leadership and international financial reporting will be instrumental in supporting the growth and innovation at BAE Systems.

Before stepping into this new role, Dan Harris served as the Head of Finance for UK Central Government at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence for over two years. In this position, he was responsible for overseeing financial performance and reporting for key government projects.

Earlier in his career with BAE Systems, Dan held the role of Senior Finance Manager for South East Asia, Middle East, and Europe, based in Singapore, where he spent three years managing financial operations across multiple regions. His work focused on financial controlling, performance analysis, and bid support for numerous projects.

Prior to that, Dan served as Finance Manager for South East Asia, where he played a critical role in monthly consolidation, business reviews, and cash forecasting, gaining substantial expertise in international financial reporting and project finance management over a span of two years.

Dan began his career at BAE Systems in various finance roles, including Finance Manager for Financial Planning and Analysis and Senior Project Accountant for major defence programs, notably the Astute Class nuclear submarine project.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
