Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, November 2025 — National Bank of Canada has announced the appointment of David Whyte as Senior Director, Human Performance, a newly created leadership role within the expanded Human Risk, Advice & Performance team, part of the broader Human Experience & Performance function. In this mandate, David will lead the bank’s Human Performance strategy by analyzing high-performing organizational benchmarks and implementing performance metrics that highlight and elevate the impact of the Human Experience & Performance team across the business.
Most recently, David Whyte served as SAVP, HR Partnerships & Operations at National Bank of Canada, where he spent over three years leading HR operations, partnership effectiveness and enterprise-wide people initiatives. His work focused on strengthening HR governance, improving operational delivery and aligning HR systems with business strategy, contributing significantly to the bank’s people-centric transformation.
Prior to joining National Bank of Canada, David spent more than nine years at JV Driver Group, where he held progressive leadership roles, including Vice-President – People & Culture, Director – HR, and HR Manager. Over this period, he drove people strategy, organizational effectiveness, cultural development, talent planning and workforce capability building at scale across the organization’s diverse operations.
Earlier in his career, David spent over four years with Peter Kiewit Infrastructure Co., holding the roles of District HR Manager and Alberta HR Manager, where he led regional HR strategy, workforce planning, employee relations and HR support for major projects. Before that, he gained foundational HR and safety experience at Sobeys West, serving as HR Manager and OH&S Manager, supporting leadership teams in employee relations, compliance and safety management.
David Whyte holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Finance from Queen’s University, earned between 2018 and 2020.
