Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, October 2025 — Debabrat Mishra has been appointed as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at JSW Infrastructure Limited, marking a significant leadership addition to India’s second-largest private port operator. In his new role, Debabrat will lead the organization’s human resources function, driving people strategy, cultural transformation, and workforce capability enhancement across the company’s rapidly expanding operations. He will also focus on aligning talent management with JSW Infrastructure’s long-term business ambitions and sustainability goals.
Before assuming this position, Debabrat served as Head of Human Resources – JSW Steel Vijayanagar, India’s largest integrated steel plant. Over his four-year tenure, he was instrumental in shaping the HR function for the 18 MTPA steel business, overseeing a workforce of over 30,000 employees across Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. His initiatives in leadership development, employee engagement, and operational excellence significantly strengthened JSW’s people ecosystem at the plant and group level.
Previously, Debabrat held senior leadership roles across the Vedanta Group, including as Chief Human Resources Officer at Bharat Aluminium Company Limited (BALCO) and Talwandi Sabo Power Limited, where he managed large-scale workforces, industrial relations, and organizational strategy for high-capacity plants in Chhattisgarh and Punjab. During his tenure with Hindustan Zinc Limited, another Vedanta entity, he played a pivotal role in leading HR operations for multi-location facilities and complex business environments, emphasizing workforce productivity and employee relations.
Earlier in his career, he contributed to talent and organizational development at Bharti Airtel, Exide Industries, and Bharat Aluminium Company, building strong foundations in human capital management and business partnering. His extensive cross-sector experience, spanning metals, energy, telecom, and manufacturing, positions him well to steer JSW Infrastructure’s human resources towards its next phase of growth and global expansion.
An alumnus of the Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Debabrat holds a PGDM in Human Resource Management, and he is currently pursuing an Advanced Strategic Leadership Program for Global Organizations from Boston University, reflecting his continuous commitment to leadership learning and excellence.
