Cork, County Cork, Ireland, March 2025 – Deborah Harrington has been appointed as Regional Director of People at HSE South West, bringing extensive experience in HR leadership, healthcare management, and organizational transformation. In her new role, she will focus on enhancing people strategies, workforce planning, and operational efficiencies to support HSE’s healthcare services across the region.
Prior to this role, Deborah served as General Manager, Mental Health Services at the Health Service Executive (HSE), where she was responsible for overseeing strategic HR and operational leadership within the mental health sector. She played a key role in policy development, workforce management, and service enhancements to improve healthcare delivery across the region.
Before leading mental health services, Deborah held the position of General Manager, HR Operations at HSE South/South West Hospital Group, where she managed HR operations, recruitment strategies, and talent management initiatives to support hospital services. She also led organizational change projects, improving HR processes and aligning workforce capabilities with healthcare needs.
Earlier in her career, she held several leadership roles in disability and older people’s services, including General Manager, Home Support Project and General Manager, Disability Services for Cork Kerry Community Healthcare. Throughout her tenure, she contributed to service decongregation projects, workforce modernization, and policy improvements that enhanced healthcare support for older persons and individuals with disabilities.
