Michigan, USA, May 2024 — Dereon Pruitt has been appointed as Vice President, Human Resources, Connection Systems Global at Aptiv. Bringing over 18 years of HR experience, Pruitt will now oversee Aptiv’s global HR operations for Connection Systems, driving strategic people management and fostering a high-performance culture.
Career Journey at Aptiv
Pruitt joined Aptiv in January 2023 as HR Director, North America, Advanced Safety & User Experience. In this role, he collaborated with executive leadership to develop and execute strategies that promote a culture of high performance. His strategic oversight ensured that Aptiv’s talent initiatives aligned with corporate goals.
In his new role as Vice President, Pruitt will lead a global team, working to ensure the company’s HR strategy aligns with its broader business objectives and reinforces a collaborative, innovative work environment.
Previous Roles and Experience
Before joining Aptiv, Pruitt spent four years at BorgWarner Inc. as HR Director of Global Engineering & Americas Morse Division. During his tenure, he managed strategic staffing plans, talent development, organizational structure, and succession planning. He also held the role of HR Director for the Morse Systems Division in Ithaca, New York, overseeing compensation, labor relations, and performance management.
Pruitt’s earlier career includes over 12 years at Nexteer Automotive, where he held various HR roles, including HR Manager for the Steering Business Unit and Site Labor Relations Manager. He managed compensation, labor relations, and contract negotiations, contributing to the successful negotiation of labor agreements and improving workforce relations.
He began his career at Delphi Saginaw as a Senior Labor Relations Representative, representing the company in contractual disputes with the UAW.
