Marcelo Cataldo, a native of Paraguay, has demonstrated substantial growth in the telecommunications sector, significantly enhancing Tigo Colombia’s customer base and corporate services during his leadership. His strategic initiatives have expanded Tigo’s postpaid base by 21% and corporate digital services by nearly 35% over the past year. Cataldo’s role in Tigo’s ESG strategy, particularly through the ‘Contigo Conectados’ program, underscores his commitment to responsible internet use education.

Before his significant impact at Millicom and Tigo, Cataldo held various technology roles in the finance sector in Europe. He earned his degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the Universidad Católica “Nuestra Señora de la Asunción” in Paraguay and an MBA from Madrid Polytechnic University.

On accepting his new role at Digicel, Cataldo expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “I am very proud to have the opportunity to lead such a vibrant company that has achieved and done so much to bring positive change to the communications landscape and to communities across the Caribbean and Central America. As a customer obsessive, I’ve admired how the Digicel team consistently finds new and innovative ways to forge connections with customers and to ingrain that behaviour across the organisation. I’m excited to be a part of that.”

Digicel Group Chairman, Rajeev Suri, warmly welcomed Cataldo, noting his “incredible energy, industry insight and commercial acumen” as key attributes that will drive Digicel’s future success. Suri also thanked Maarten Boute for his leadership as interim CEO and highlighted the promising collaboration between Cataldo and Boute in their respective roles.
