Johannesburg, South Africa, March 2025 – Dr. Candice Hartley has been appointed as the Chief People Officer at Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd. With a distinguished career spanning human capital strategy, leadership development, and transformation initiatives, Dr. Hartley will spearhead Eskom’s people strategy, workforce planning, and talent management to drive organizational effectiveness in South Africa’s largest energy provider.
Before joining Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, Dr. Hartley was part of KPMG Africa’s Executive Committee, where she played a crucial role in shaping people strategies across the continent. Simultaneously, she held the position of Head of People at KPMG South Africa, where she led organizational design, succession planning, and leadership development initiatives.
Prior to KPMG, she served as the Chief Executive Officer at Mwangaza Advisory, a strategic consultancy firm specializing in people strategy and business transformation. During her tenure, she collaborated with various organizations to design and implement HR frameworks tailored to align with business objectives.
Earlier, Dr. Hartley was the Group Human Capital Executive at AECI Limited, overseeing HR functions across 22 countries, leading HR strategy, talent management, and governance while participating in executive and risk committees. She also held the role of Human Resources Director at British American Tobacco, where she was responsible for talent strategies across Southern Africa, aligning global HR programs with regional business needs.
She brings additional HR leadership experience from Pernod Ricard, Lenovo, Barloworld Limited, Standard Bank, and South African Breweries, where she successfully led executive management, HR transformation, and talent acquisition initiatives.
