With a career spanning over two decades in leadership roles, Dr. Rao is known for his commitment to impactful change, especially in renewable energy. His new role aligns with Urja Global’s vision of creating a cleaner, energy-efficient world under the guidance of GN Gupta. Dr. Rao also serves as Chairman Emeritus for Mission Rural India, emphasizing his passion for impactful transformations that benefit communities.
Dr. Rao is the Founder and Managing Partner of GPR HR Consulting LLP (Good People Relations), where he has dedicated the last decade to consulting in business excellence, capability development, and synergy creation across organizations. In this role, he has provided strategic insights, developed business plans, and conducted motivational learning sessions for industry leaders.
Before founding his consultancy, he served as Chief-HR & MS at Recron Malaysia Sdn Bhd under Reliance Group, where he was instrumental in managing human resources and management services. Earlier, as Senior Vice President-HR at Reliance Industries Ltd., he led HR for the Aromatics, FID, and Polyester sectors, contributing to the company’s talent strategy and industrial operations.
His previous roles include Vice President-HR at JK Tyre & Industries Ltd., where he managed HR for multiple plants and a nationwide marketing network, and VP-HR at Birla VXL Limited. Dr. Rao’s career began at Steel Authority of India Ltd, where he spent 17 years as Senior Manager-Personnel, building a strong foundation in personnel management and organizational development.
