Dr. Rajesh Mohata Appointed as Chief Procurement Officer at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India

Gurgaon, Haryana, India, July 2025 – Dr. Rajesh Mohata has been appointed as the Chief Procurement Officer at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), stepping into a critical leadership role that will shape the future of the company’s procurement strategy, digital transformation, and supply chain innovation. With over three decades of multi-sector experience across steel, oil & gas, aluminium, infrastructure, and consumer products, Dr. Mohata brings deep expertise in strategic sourcing, capital procurement, and operational excellence.

Prior to this elevation, Dr. Mohata served as Head – Strategic and Growth Projects Procurement at AM/NS India, where he led the complete procurement lifecycle for high-value brownfield and greenfield projects across the steel sector. His strategic contributions significantly strengthened vendor engagement frameworks and drove the successful execution of multi-billion-dollar expansion projects.

Earlier, he served as Chief Executive Officer & Executive Director at Jindal Lifestyle Limited, where he transformed the business from a manufacturing-centric entity to a design-led consumer brand. He led cross-functional teams across product development, e-commerce, manufacturing, and sales, achieving business scalability and brand innovation through agile leadership.

Dr. Mohata also held the role of Director – Procurement & Supply Chain Management at Cairn Oil & Gas, where he managed complex upstream procurement portfolios and implemented advanced governance and risk-based contracting models. His tenure saw the modernization of procurement systems and the development of resilient sourcing strategies aligned with safety, sustainability, and cost efficiency.

His earlier leadership journey includes impactful roles as COO at Adani Bunkering, Chief Commercial Officer at Hindustan Zinc, CCO at Vedanta Aluminium, and senior procurement roles at Reliance Industries and Ultratech Cement. Across these positions, he consistently drove strategic sourcing, performance benchmarking, digital integration, and long-term value creation.
