Bengaluru, Karnataka, India – October 2024 – Dr. Shivananda Koteshwar has been appointed as the Managing Director of Astera Labs‘ newly launched R&D center in Bengaluru, marking a pivotal moment in the company’s expansion into India. Dr. Koteshwar, an accomplished semiconductor industry veteran, will lead the R&D site to drive product innovation and build a dynamic engineering team focused on AI and cloud infrastructure solutions.

Before joining Astera Labs, Dr. Shivananda Koteshwar briefly served as Vice President, EDAG South Asia at Synopsys Inc. He led the EDA group’s strategic operations, building strong connections across local teams, customers, and academic partners in the South Asia ecosystem. His efforts focused on revenue growth and expanding technical capabilities in the region.

Previously, Dr. Koteshwar spent over five years as Vice President, EDA R&D Head at Synopsys, where he managed releases and technology engagements for the PnR team across Bengaluru and Noida. During his tenure, he also led Global Accelerated Customer Education initiatives, transforming customer training strategies to scale product adoption and enhance the customer learning experience.

Prior to Synopsys, Dr. Koteshwar was the General Manager and Site Head at MediaTek, where he was responsible for overseeing site operations, managing business unit teams, and driving product development for various chipsets, including mobile communication, wireless LAN, and digital TV controllers. He played a key role in building the company’s technical leadership and expanding its presence in the Indian market.

Dr. Koteshwar’s earlier roles include serving as Founding Director at The Amaatra Academy, a pioneering K12 institution by PES Group, and holding several technical leadership positions at Intel Corporation, CMOS Design Services, and GEC Plessey Semiconductors. He has also founded and led innovative ventures like ThrustWise and ShuruKul, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to education.
