Emily Popejoy has been with State Farm for nearly ten years, steadily progressing through various roles. As of May 2024, she has taken on the position of Learning Strategy Manager. In this role, Emily will leverage her skills in leadership, strategic planning, coaching, and communication to enhance the company’s learning initiatives.

Prior to this, Emily served as a Marketing Development Strategist from May 2023 to June 2024. Based in Bloomington, Illinois, she was responsible for developing marketing strategies to generate demand, capture current demand, and retain the customer base. Her work involved strategic planning, data analysis, project management, and communication.

From May 2019 to May 2023, Emily was a Marketing Analyst at State Farm. In this role, she reviewed and analyzed customer and industry research, formulated insights around customer needs, and developed marketing strategies. She ensured alignment throughout the marketing tactic creation and execution, utilizing a test-and-learn approach to improve market leadership.

Emily also worked as a Business Underwriting Specialist from September 2014 to May 2019 in Charleston, South Carolina. She specialized in coaching agents on marketing and selling to small business owners, focusing on holistic portfolio needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.

Before her tenure at State Farm, Emily was a Multi-Media Marketing Representative at The Southern Illinoisan from October 2013 to September 2014. She maintained positive working relationships with local business owners and marketing agencies, creating and executing successful advertising campaigns.

Emily’s early career at State Farm included roles as a Commercial Lines Underwriter (March 2012 to October 2013) in Greater Nashville Area, TN, and a Licensed Representative (February 2009 to March 2012), where she sold and serviced various insurance policies, providing educational experiences for customers.

Matthew Breitfelder is Partner and Global Head of Human Capital at Apollo, where he focuses on attracting extraordinary talent to the firm and creating an innovative, inclusive, high-performance culture that brings out the best in Apollo’s people. Matt leads Apollo’s recruiting, talent management, compensation, succession planning, citizenship, employee relations, development, and culture work. He is also a member of the firm’s Leadership Team. Matt is committed to expanding opportunities across Apollo’s workplace, marketplace, and communities. Prior to joining Apollo, Matt was Chief Talent Officer at BlackRock as well as a member of the Operating Committee. Previously, he held strategy, talent, and innovation roles at Mastercard, PwC, and CEB/Gartner.

Matt holds a BA in Economics from the University of Southern California, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He currently serves on the boards of the Lumina Foundation, the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society program, the Milken Institute’s Inclusive Capitalism initiative, and Georgetown University’s initiative on AI, Analytics, and the Future of Work. He is the co-author of numerous Harvard Business School case studies and articles on leadership. Matt has been recognized as a Top Global CHRO multiple times by n2Growth and Stanford Business School.
