Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, September 2025 – V/Line, Australia’s largest regional public transport operator, has announced the appointment of Gabrielle Bassett as Head of Talent – Operations. In this role, Gabrielle will lead talent acquisition and workforce strategies for operational divisions, ensuring V/Line continues to attract and retain high-performing teams to deliver safe, reliable, and customer-focused services across regional Victoria.
Gabrielle most recently served as Senior Manager Talent Acquisition at VMCH, where she managed a team of TA specialists across residential aged care, disability services, at-home aged care, and corporate functions. During her tenure, she played a key role in strengthening the organization’s workforce strategies while upholding its values of compassion, joy, hospitality, and courage.
Prior to that, she spent over six years at RMIT University, first as Executive Talent Acquisition Manager and later as Senior Manager Talent Acquisition, leading both operations and executive hiring. She also spearheaded RMIT’s disability confidence initiatives in collaboration with the Australian Network Disability and Job Access, advancing inclusive hiring practices and employer branding.
Earlier, Gabrielle held recruitment leadership roles at Harrier Talent Solutions (onsite at AGL) and Coles Group, supporting large-scale workforce needs across energy and retail sectors. She successfully partnered with business leaders to drive sustainable talent pipelines and deliver strategic recruitment solutions in highly competitive markets.
She began her career in talent and recruitment with roles at GlaxoSmithKline, Pharmaceutical & Medical Professionals, Pivotal Human Resources, and as a Microbiologist at Innoxa, building a foundation of expertise that combines scientific understanding with human resources leadership.
