Berlin, Germany, April 2026 – Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH has appointed Axel Eschment as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and Director of Labour Relations, strengthening its executive leadership team. He officially assumed the role on April 1, joining the Executive Board under the leadership of Aletta von Massenbach.
The appointment follows approval by the Supervisory Board in October 2025 and reflects FBB’s continued focus on strengthening its people and organizational capabilities.
In his new role, Axel Eschment will oversee a broad mandate including Human Resources Development, Accounting & Controlling, noise abatement, environmental matters, and community relations—highlighting the strategic importance of HR in shaping the airport’s long-term operational and stakeholder agenda.
Prior to joining Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH, Axel Eschment held senior HR leadership roles at Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe, where he served as Head of Business Partner Human Resources. He also took on additional responsibilities as Managing Director of the Training Campus and Authorized Signatory (Prokurist), contributing to workforce development and organizational capability building.
Earlier in his career, he worked with Sparkasse KölnBonn, where he was responsible for management consulting, strategy, processes, and personnel controlling, building strong expertise at the intersection of finance and HR.
He began his professional journey at Landesbank Berlin, laying a foundation in financial and organizational management.
The appointment comes at a time when Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) continues to strengthen its role as a key aviation hub, connecting the German capital region to over 150 destinations globally.
With increasing focus on sustainability, stakeholder engagement, and workforce transformation, Eschment’s expanded portfolio signals a more integrated approach to people, environment, and community strategy at FBB.
