FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 18, 2024 – Genesis Motor America has taken a significant step in its growth strategy by appointing Drew Slaven, a distinguished former Mercedes-Benz executive, to the pivotal role of Chief Marketing Officer.
In this newly created position, Slaven will spearhead all marketing efforts in the United States, aiming to enhance brand recognition, drive sales, and contribute to the brand’s market share expansion. Reporting directly to Claudia Marquez, Chief Operating Officer of Genesis Motor North America, Slaven’s leadership is set to mark a new era of luxury marketing for Genesis.
Claudia Marquez expressed her enthusiasm about Slaven’s appointment, highlighting his extensive experience in luxury marketing leadership. “Drew’s appointment as chief marketing officer represents yet another important milestone in the expansion of our leadership team. Slaven’s responsibilities as CMO include overseeing the creation and execution of marketing strategies that directly communicate with consumers. He will manage and devise the strategic business plan encompassing all facets of marketing, including national and regional advertising, multicultural marketing, experiential and digital marketing, CRM, and brand website initiatives. Moreover, Slaven will collaborate with Genesis retailers across the nation to bolster local marketing efforts.
Before his role at Genesis, Slaven had an illustrious 20-year career at Mercedes-Benz USA, where he held several senior leadership positions, including Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer, and Digital Strategy Officer. His achievements at Mercedes-Benz USA include contributing to significant revenue growth, achieving record profitability, establishing a digital center of excellence, and forging strategic marketing partnerships. Slaven’s tenure at Mercedes-Benz also included serving as the President of Mercedes-Benz Manhattan and acting as interim CEO from 2020-2021, amongst other leadership roles.
Before his time at Mercedes-Benz USA, Slaven was Vice President of Communications at JP Morgan Chase, where he played a key role in the expansion of business services across various divisions.
Slaven is a University of Pittsburgh alumnus, holding both an MBA and a Bachelor of Arts in political science.
