Nairobi, Nairobi County, Kenya, March 2025 – Geoffrey Odundo, the former Chief Executive of the Nairobi Securities Exchange, has been appointed as the new Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Nation Media Group (NMG), effective 7th April 2025. This strategic leadership move is expected to usher in a new era of transformation, innovation, and business growth for the region’s largest independent media house.
With a strong legacy in finance, governance, and strategic leadership, Odundo’s appointment signals Nation Media Group’s intent to evolve with the changing media landscape while upholding its role as a trusted voice across East and Central Africa.
Geoffrey Odundo served as Chief Executive of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) for approximately 10 years, where he led numerous initiatives aimed at deepening Kenya’s capital markets. Under his leadership, the NSE introduced innovative products, drove market digitization, and significantly increased stakeholder engagement within the regional investment community.
Before joining NSE, Odundo held various strategic roles in financial institutions and investment management. His expansive experience has been pivotal in aligning institutions with market trends, regulatory developments, and investor expectations, making him well-suited to guide Nation Media Group through its digital and strategic transformation agenda.
Odundo holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration and Management from the University of Nairobi, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Strategic Management from the United States International University – Africa.
