George joins UNDP from the World Health Organization, where he served for nearly four years as Comptroller and Director of Finance, overseeing global financial services including statutory financial reporting, treasury, payroll, investments, and insurance programs. During his tenure, he played a critical role in steering the organization through complex financial challenges with a focus on sustainability and accountability.

Prior to WHO, George held a range of senior leadership positions at UNDP itself, including a five-year tenure as Deputy Chief Finance Officer where he supported financial business partnering, performance monitoring, and development of innovative financing tools. He also served as Deputy Director for Finance, Administration, and Budget Management, helping transform internal controls and financial analytics across the global footprint of the organization.

Before UNDP, George held a pivotal leadership role at the United Nations, managing global finance system transformation projects and launching data-led financial reporting innovations. His earlier consulting experience at PwC and policy work with HM Treasury in the United Kingdom further solidify his deep-rooted expertise in public finance, governance, and systems transformation.

George began his professional career as a management trainee at Midland Bank, and has since built an extensive portfolio of achievements in finance and development. His appointment marks a return to UNDP, bringing continuity, institutional memory, and visionary leadership to the organization’s financial future.

UNDP supports nations in developing policies, leadership capabilities, partnering strategies, and institutional resilience to deliver sustainable development outcomes that leave no one behind.
