Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, October 2025 — Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Limited (MHRIL) has announced the appointment of Mr. Ghanashyam Hegdekatte as the new Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO). With over 16 years of rich and diverse HR experience across Business Partnering and Centres of Expertise, Ghanashyam brings deep expertise in people strategy, leadership development, and organizational transformation to his new role.
An alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur and a proud Mahindra Group Management Cadre (GMC) professional, Ghanashyam’s journey is a reflection of the Mahindra Group’s long-standing commitment to nurturing and elevating talent from within. His leadership will play a pivotal role in strengthening MHRIL’s culture, talent ecosystem, and employee engagement as the company continues its strong growth trajectory in India and international markets.
Ghanashyam has been associated with the Mahindra Group for more than 14 years, where he has held multiple leadership roles across the Automotive and Farm sectors. Most recently, he served as Head – Organization Effectiveness (Automotive and Farm Sectors), leading verticals such as Talent Management, Learning & Development, Organization Development, and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. His strategic initiatives focused on succession planning, leadership pipeline creation, change management, and the RISE to Equal World DEI charter.
Prior to that, he was Head of Human Resources for Automotive Manufacturing, Quality, and International Operations, overseeing HR delivery across nine plants in India and international markets spanning Australia, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. His efforts in defining future manufacturing competencies, upskilling teams, and integrating automation and digitalization were widely recognized.
Earlier, as Head of HR – Personal Vehicle and Commercial Vehicle Businesses, Ghanashyam was responsible for HR strategy for multiple divisions, including Mahindra Truck and Bus, Mahindra Construction Equipment, and Small Commercial Vehicles. His focus on aligning top talent with value-creating roles, redefining organization design, and driving digital learning programs significantly enhanced workforce capability and productivity.
Ghanashyam also served as Head of HR and Business Strategy at Mahindra EPC, where he drove integrated HR and business transformation initiatives, and earlier as Organizational Development Manager for the Automotive and Farm Sectors, where he led strategic projects in job evaluation, leadership development, and sales effectiveness.
An engineer turned HR leader, Ghanashyam began his career as a Software Engineer at Nokia before pursuing his Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from XLRI Jamshedpur. He has also completed the Mahindra Accelerated Leadership Track (MALT) program from Carnegie Mellon University, designed to develop global C-suite leaders within the Mahindra Group.
