SUNNYVALE, California, USA—Google Cloud introduced new educational pathways in generative AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics during the ASU + GSV Summit, responding to the soaring demand for tech skills in the U.S. and globally. The initiative, supported by key launch partners including the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Rackspace, Jack Henry, and Purdue Global, aims to bridge the gap between learning and employment in crucial technological fields.
The introduction of the Google Cloud Data Analytics and Cybersecurity Certificates and courses in generative AI marks a significant step toward preparing the workforce for the increasing requirements of the tech industry. “These offerings not only validate skills through industry-recognized credentials but also incorporate dynamic, hands-on learning experiences that are crucial for career advancement in today’s tech landscape,” said Lee Moore, Vice President at Google Cloud.
Highlighting the strategic importance of this initiative, Moore added, “This partnership aligns with our goal to foster a skilled workforce capable of driving innovation across both the public and private sectors. Our programs are designed to prepare individuals for high-growth areas such as AI and cybersecurity, aligning with the needs of our partner organizations.”
The newly announced programs will utilize immersive AI tools like Interview Warmup, preparing candidates for roles that increasingly demand proficiency in advanced AI applications. “Google Cloud is dedicated to equipping future technologists with the tools necessary for success in a digital economy,” Moore emphasized.
Todd Conklin, Chief AI Officer and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, reflected on the government’s role in adapting to technological advancements: “In this era of rapid tech adoption, it’s critical that we provide accessible training for our workforce to master and leverage new technologies effectively.”
The programs, which are also being made available to educational institutions, government, and nonprofit workforce development programs globally at no cost, are part of Google Cloud’s commitment to broadening access to job-relevant training. This initiative complements the Google Career Certificates program, which similarly equips learners with essential tech skills.
Frank Dooley, Chancellor of Purdue Global, praised the collaboration: “Our partnership with Google Cloud has immensely benefited our students, equipping them with competitive, stackable credentials that are recognized across industries.”
