Gurugram, Haryana, India, July 2025 — BMW Group India has announced the appointment of Hardeep S. Brar as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective September 1, 2025. With over three decades of leadership experience across some of the most renowned global automotive brands, Hardeep brings a unique combination of strategic vision, operational excellence, and deep market insight to lead the next phase of BMW’s growth in India.
Brar joins BMW Group India from Kia India, where he most recently served as Senior Vice President – Sales and Marketing. During his tenure, he played a transformative role in accelerating market share, scaling the brand’s retail footprint, and solidifying Kia’s presence in India’s competitive automotive landscape. Under his leadership, Kia crossed major milestones such as becoming the fastest OEM to reach 1 million domestic sales and achieving a 6.5% market share by CY25.
Before Kia, he was associated with Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd. as Director (Marketing & Sales), responsible for driving brand establishment and go-to-market strategy for the China-based OEM in India. Prior to that, he held dual leadership roles at Nissan Motor Corporation as Director – Commercial and Director – Corporate Strategy, contributing to business turnaround initiatives and organizational restructuring.
Earlier, Brar served as Vice President and Board Member at General Motors India, where he managed national sales, corporate & fleet business, network profitability, and strategic partnerships. His efforts in optimizing distribution and dealer performance made a notable impact on General Motors’ India operations.
He also held the position of National Head – Network & Dealer Development at Volkswagen Group Sales India, where he led one of the most comprehensive network transformation programs in the industry. His strategies in business management, customer satisfaction, and sales operations were instrumental in turning around underperforming dealer operations.
Brar’s association with Maruti Suzuki India Limited spanned over 17 years in various leadership roles, including General Manager – Corporate Sales and Rural Marketing, Deputy General Manager – Network Development, and Regional Manager. He played a critical role in launching Maruti’s successful fleet and leasing business, strengthening rural outreach, and executing brand-defining campaigns and motorsports initiatives. His efforts helped scale the dealer network from 300 to over 1,000 outlets in just four years.
Hardeep began his career with Pertech Computers Ltd. as an Account Executive, before moving into the automotive sector. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology and is a graduate of the Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard Business School.
