The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) is proud to announce the appointment of Amy Rasmussen as its new Executive Director, effective April 1. This decision comes as a result of an extensive nationwide search conducted by the IAAO Executive Director Search Task Force, culminating in Ms. Rasmussen’s selection by the Board for her vast experience and profound expertise in the field of property assessment and valuation.
Amy Rasmussen brings over two decades of dedicated service in property assessment, having held significant roles such as Chief Deputy Assessor for the Riverside County (California) Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder’s Office and the Polk County (Iowa) Assessor’s Office. Her tenure in these positions underscored her commitment to enhancing the standards and practices within the property assessment profession.
In addition to her professional roles, Ms. Rasmussen has been an integral part of the IAAO community. Her leadership was particularly notable during her presidency in 2020, where she guided the organization through the challenges of the pandemic with grace and resilience. Ms. Rasmussen’s contributions to IAAO also include her service as Chair of the Mentorship Task Force and Professional Development Committee, among other roles, reflecting her commitment to fostering professional growth within the industry.
Ms. Rasmussen’s accolades include the prestigious IAAO Assessment Administration Specialist (AAS) and Residential Evaluation Specialist (RES) designations, highlighting her specialized knowledge and skills in the field. Her recognition as an IAAO Fellow (FIAAO) and her role as an IAAO Senior Instructor since 2016 further demonstrate her dedication to advancing the profession through education and mentorship.
Her background is further enriched by her contributions to the Iowa Real Estate Appraiser Examining Board and the Board of Directors of the Institute of Iowa Certified Assessors, showcasing her leadership and expertise on both a state and national level. Ms. Rasmussen’s educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration degree in public policy from Drake University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Iowa State University, underpinning her broad understanding of the public and administrative aspects of property assessment.
