Nairobi, Kenya, September 2025 – James Theuri has recently taken on the role of Chairman of the Board at Pacis Insurance Company Ltd, bringing with him a wealth of leadership experience spanning across the financial services, insurance, education, and capital markets sectors in East Africa. In his new capacity, he will provide strategic oversight and governance as the company continues its mission of delivering peace of mind through accessible and impactful insurance solutions.
Before this appointment, James has been actively engaged as a Business Transformation Consultant under his own firm, J. Theuri, supporting organizations on strategy and operational excellence. Simultaneously, he served as Deputy Vice Chancellor – Strategy, Finance and Administration at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa for nearly eight years. In this dual role, he led strategic formulation, financial restructuring, and large-scale ERP transformation to position the institution for sustainable growth.
Previously, James was the Chief Executive Officer at Custody and Registrars Services Ltd. (C&R Group), where he oversaw capital market services for over 20 listed clients across East Africa. His leadership during this period contributed to strong regulatory compliance and the expansion of shareholder services across Kenya and Uganda.
Earlier in his career, James held senior leadership positions at Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA Group) and Barclays (now Absa), where he led strategic initiatives in business banking, liability mobilisation, and NGO-focused financial services across the African continent. His consistent focus on business resilience, strategic planning, and stakeholder management has positioned him as a trusted leader in the regional financial ecosystem.
